Demis Hassabis: Early Investor in AI Rival Anthropic

Demis Hassabis, the CEO and founder of Google DeepMind, was also an early investor in Anthropic. This position was previously undisclosed. Hassabis is described as an influential AI architect and a knight of the realm in the UK. He has also invested in various AI startups founded by colleagues, including Inflection AI and Ineffable Intelligence. Google, which acquired DeepMind in 2014 for about $400 million, is also a major investor in Anthropic. The tech giant reportedly plans to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic. In return, Anthropic is committed to spending $200 billion on Google’s cloud services over the next five years. Anthropic, founded in 2021, recently raised funding at a reported $900 billion valuation. This highlights Hassabis' growing influence across the AI industry.
