Doubao & Qwen Shut Down AI Agent Features July 15

ByteDance's Doubao and Alibaba's Qwen are discontinuing their AI agent creation features. Both platforms announced the shutdown will happen on July 15, 2026. After this date, users cannot create new AI agents, and all existing user-made agents will stop working. Users can still view configurations and chat histories during a transition period. They recommend backing up important content before October 15, 2026, when data will be processed according to privacy policies and will no longer be recoverable. What's interesting is this timing aligns with China's new Interim Measures for the Administration of Anthropomorphic AI Interaction Services, which also take effect on July 15. This suggests a new phase of stricter regulatory compliance for consumer-facing, user-generated AI.
