DT & Vodafone Automate Identity Mgmt with AI for Networks

Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone have used agentic AI to automate identity management. This new system translates complex regulatory requirements into network access policies. The project, a TM Forum Catalyst, showed that policy updates can now happen in a single day, down from several weeks. The system includes zero-trust safeguards like policy dry-runs and human approvals. This automation helps mitigate operational risk and positions operators for sovereign, defense, and critical infrastructure contracts. Marc Seidemann of Tallence highlighted telcos' advantage in AI due to their role as "trusted custodians of sensitive customer information." Vodafone is moving this work directly into a project phase, aiming for an industry blueprint. This innovation addresses the significant challenges telcos face in managing identity and access across highly regulated networks.
