Dynatrace Acquires Arize: AI Agent Dev & Observability

Dynatrace has acquired Arize for $915 million in a cash-and-stock deal. This marks Dynatrace's third acquisition this year, adding AI agent development tools to its existing observability capabilities. Arize AI, a 200-employee company, specializes in AI agent evaluation and experimentation tools. These will integrate with Dynatrace's Bluebox AI product, which automates the software development lifecycle. The Arize AX platform can perform similar autonomous improvement cycles for custom AI agents. This move expands Dynatrace's focus from pure observability to systems of control. An analyst notes that Dynatrace's existing AI observability focused on standard metrics, but Arize brings the ability to look at model outputs. A customer believes this combination will help manage the growing number of custom agents. This acquisition follows Dynatrace's purchase of DevCycle in January and Bindplane in April, signaling a strategic shift into "active systems of control."
