ESET's €40M AI Investment: Combatting Rising Cyber Threats

ESET is investing 40 million euros into AI-powered cybersecurity. This investment will increase their R&D team and accelerate the development of cybersecurity-first AI models. The company warns of a new attack surface emerging from autonomous AI systems. ESET has already scanned nearly 800,000 unique AI skills since March 2026. Of these, about 25,000 were flagged as suspicious, and over 3,000 were blocked as malicious. This represents a 13-fold increase from the start of the year. The investment aims to protect AI workflows, strengthen cybersecurity-specific AI, and revolutionize the analysis of cybersecurity data. This matters because it addresses the growing threat of AI being used in cyberattacks, aiming to keep digital systems secure.
