Eufy EdgeAgent: Local AI Home Security, No Subscriptions

Eufy has unveiled a new AI-powered home security platform called EdgeAgent. This system processes security events locally, aiming for faster response times, better privacy, and no subscription fees for core features. EdgeAgent works in three stages: detection, analysis, and action. A new device, the Smart Security Shield, handles detection using 180-degree dual-radar technology. This allows it to distinguish between recognized people and strangers at longer distances. It can detect unknown visitors up to 50 feet away and identify family members up to 100 feet away. At its core is a new AI chipset for local processing and storage, which Eufy claims is up to 63% faster than cloud-based platforms. Local processing reduces false alarms and keeps data within the home. The system can trigger warning lights and voice alerts for unknown persons, and send detailed security or emergency notifications for serious incidents. EdgeAgent will launch in the second half of 2026 and integrate with existing Eufy devices. This move highlights a growing trend towards local AI processing in smart home security, offering more control and privacy for users.
