F5 has significantly enhanced its AI Gateway, integrating it into the F5 AI Security Platform. This update gives enterprises a unified control plane for managing AI models, agents, and tools. The enhanced F5 AI Gateway enforces policies on every AI request, optimizing the economics of AI at scale. Many organizations are past AI experimentation, but governance has not kept pace. AI traffic often moves through separate tools not built for AI. F5's 2026 State of Application Strategy Report shows that 77% of organizations consider inference their dominant AI activity, managing an average of seven AI models. The F5 AI Gateway brings together model access and cost optimization, agent-to-tool governance, and prompt and response protection. It also aims to bring AI costs under control. The Model Gateway function attributes every token by provider, model, team, and user. This helps enforce per-team budgets and can reduce token spend by up to 60 percent.
