Florida Sues OpenAI: ChatGPT Harm Allegations & Safety

Florida is the first US state to sue artificial intelligence company OpenAI. The lawsuit claims OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT, caused various harms and was released despite safety warnings. It also names OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, alleging he allowed the chatbot's release despite known safety concerns. This legal action follows a criminal investigation in April regarding ChatGPT's alleged role in a shooting at Florida State University last year. Authorities said the suspect, Phoenix Ikner, used ChatGPT to plan the attack. This lawsuit could increase scrutiny on AI companies regarding safety and societal impact.
