Fortinet Acquires Virtue AI: Bolstering AI Security Portfolio

Fortinet has acquired Virtue AI to enhance its security offerings. This move is part of Fortinet's broader Security for AI strategy. The acquisition will bolster Fortinet's AI security solution portfolio, including its FortiGate Hyperscale Firewall. This firewall is designed for high-end data centers and other AI infrastructure. Fortinet's FortiAIGate solution already protects large language models from various risks, including prompt injections and data leakage. Virtue AI's capabilities will extend this security to AI models, applications, and agentic systems. Their Guardian Agent platform allows security teams to test autonomous agents for weaknesses across over 50 sandboxed environments. It also identifies new risks with AI model updates and provides visibility into AI tools. Fortinet's founder and CEO, Ken Xie, states that security must evolve with the changes AI brings to enterprise computing. He says Virtue AI's technology will advance their vision for continuous AI assurance. The market for securing AI ecosystems is projected to grow significantly, from $2.8 billion this year to $16.4 billion by 2030. This acquisition aims to address the growing need for robust AI security solutions as AI technology continues to integrate into enterprise operations.
