Most organizations will still have separate functions, but they will become more connected. What's interesting is that agentic AI is moving work into the space between HR and IT. Capabilities like skills-based talent management and human-AI performance management no longer fit neatly into one department. This can lead to decisions made in silos, without proper safeguards or oversight. CHROs and CIOs must share ownership of managing risks, bias, and safety concerns with AI agents. They also need to share responsibility for crafting a skills-based approach and redesigning work.
