GitHub Copilot HydraFusion: 67% Cost Cut, Better AI

GitHub Copilot has released HydraFusion, a new tool that automatically switches between multiple AI models. This innovation achieves a 67% cost reduction and a 4.9-point score improvement compared to Claude Opus 5 in TerminalBench 2.1. HydraFusion is a research preview for GitHub Copilot, designed to use different AI models depending on the task. While high-performance AI models are great for difficult tasks, they can increase processing time and costs. HydraFusion addresses this by dynamically combining models. It can answer with a single model, transfer to a high-performance model if needed, or even have another model review answers. Developers simply select HydraFusion, and the system handles the rest automatically. This tool is available as an experimental feature for GitHub Copilot CLI with all Copilot plans.
