GitHub Copilot June Update: Enhanced Visibility & Trust

GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio is getting a June update focused on visibility and trust. Users will see clearer views of their Copilot usage and a new trust layer for MCP servers. The update introduces Copilot usage tracking with real-time updates and proactive alerts for billing limits. Visual Studio will also now validate MCP server configurations at startup, prompting users to approve changes. What's more, the GitHub Copilot modernization agent for C++ is now generally available. This agent helps with MSVC upgrade scenarios. Copilot's next edit suggestions can now predict follow-up edits anywhere in a file, not just near the cursor. Users can also add pull requests to Copilot Chat for context and review and approve pull requests directly within the IDE. These new features are available across all GitHub Copilot plans. This update aims to give developers more control and insight into their coding processes.
