Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis Steps Down as CEO

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a leadership change at Google DeepMind. Demis Hassabis is stepping down as CEO and will become Chair of Google DeepMind and Chief Scientist of Alphabet. He will also continue to lead Isomorphic Labs. This new role allows Hassabis to focus on artificial general intelligence and scientific research. Koray Kavukcuoglu has been appointed Senior Vice President of Google DeepMind. He will now lead the company's AI model development, research, and the Gemini AI and developer teams. Koray has been with Google DeepMind for 13 years and has contributed to breakthroughs like WaveNet and Deep Q-Network. Google is heavily investing in AI and preparing its next generation of Gemini models. Pichai noted that Gemini models are in high demand, and the Gemini app has over 950 million monthly users. This leadership reshuffle aims to accelerate Google's progress in the AI race.
