Google Gemini: New Models, Still No 3.5 Pro

Google has released two new Gemini models, but the anticipated Gemini 3.5 Pro is still not available. The new additions include Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, designed for developers to run AI agents efficiently. Google also introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a specialized cybersecurity model. Gemini 3.6 Flash is described as a general-purpose "workhorse" model with improvements in coding and multimodal tasks, priced at $1.50 per million input tokens and $7.50 per million output tokens. Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite is the fastest model in the 3.5 series, capable of 350 output tokens per second, and costs $0.3 per million input tokens and $2.5 per million output tokens. The 3.5 Flash Cyber model is for detecting software vulnerabilities and will be available to governments and select partners only. Google says Gemini 3.5 Pro is currently testing with partners, and they have already begun training for a future Gemini 4 model. This news matters because it shows Google's ongoing efforts to expand its AI capabilities, even as competitors release new models.
