Google I/O: Free AI Tools & Gemini 3.5 Flash Now Live

Google I/O announced new AI tools, and some are available for free right now. The biggest news is the immediate launch of Gemini 3.5 Flash. This is the new default model for the Gemini app and Google Search. It's faster and handles complex tasks more efficiently. You can try it by simply opening the Gemini app or using Google AI Mode. Another new tool is Gemini Omni Flash, a world model that generates video. It can simulate physics and allows conversational editing of videos. Omni Flash will be available later this week for YouTube Shorts and in the YouTube Create app for all users, for free. What's interesting is that Chrome and Google Search will now use SynthID to detect AI-generated content. This invisible digital watermark lets you know if parts of an image were made with AI. Several third-party entities, including OpenAI, have adopted SynthID. The bottom line is that while many new AI features are for paying members, some significant tools are free for everyone to use immediately.
