Google Maps is enhancing its Ask Maps feature with AI-powered conversational hotel search. This means you can now search for hotels by vibe, price, and proximity to venues like gyms and restaurants, all with real-time pricing and availability. What's interesting is an opt-in Gmail integration. This lets Ask Maps use your existing reservations, like flights and dinners, to offer personalized suggestions, such as how to spend time near your hotel before a flight. For now, you can discover and compare hotels, but not book them directly within Maps. However, Google has started a limited U.S. test of agentic hotel booking with partners. In-chat transactions are already live for food ordering, showing the potential for future booking capabilities.
