OpenAI is rolling out a broad ChatGPT update, moving Free and Go accounts to GPT-5.6 Luna. This change aims to make everyday answers more focused and reduce factual mistakes. Paid users will experience a more reliable GPT-5.6 Sol. Free and Go users will see GPT-5.6 Luna become their default model during the week of August 6. Starting the following week, these accounts will get unlimited text chats and a new Think button for harder questions. Abuse guardrails will still apply. The update significantly improves reliability. Internal evaluations show answers with factual errors were about 62 percent less common with GPT-5.6 Luna and 68 percent less common with GPT-5.6 Sol compared to GPT-5.5 Instant.
