Free and Go accounts will get GPT-5.6 Luna as the default this week. Unlimited text conversations and a new "Think button" are expected to follow next week. The Think button gives Luna more time for complex questions, like planning and mathematics. This allows for a more considered answer when speed is less important. Plus and Pro subscribers will gain more control over GPT-5.6 Sol, allowing them to choose between quick answers or more reasoning time. OpenAI states that the revised models are more dependable with facts, reducing errors. For example, answers with factual errors were about 62% less common with GPT-5.6 Luna compared to the previous version. This matters because these updates aim to provide more reliable and capable AI tools to a vast user base.
