Grok 4.5: Elon Musk Tests New AI in Tesla & SpaceX

Elon Musk has announced that xAI's new artificial intelligence model, Grok 4.5, is now in private beta testing within SpaceX and Tesla. This marks its first active internal use. What's interesting is Grok 4.5 is built on a 1.5-trillion-parameter "V9" foundation model, which is roughly three times larger than the current Grok model on X. Early internal benchmarks suggest its capabilities are approaching or even exceeding Anthropic's Claude Opus model. Grok 4.5 also underwent specialized training using data from the AI coding assistant Cursor, a startup SpaceX recently agreed to acquire. This training heavily tunes the AI for multi-file edits and engineering workflows. Musk shared that reinforcement learning continues to improve the system daily. Looking ahead, xAI and SpaceX plan to launch entirely new AI models, trained from scratch, every month for the rest of the year. This immediate testing within Tesla and SpaceX could impact future technology development.
