Guild Group CISO: AI Security is a Boardroom Issue

AI is transforming enterprise security by changing the fundamental trust model within organizations. Previously, security focused on systems, networks, and users. Now, companies must also consider what AI can access, process, influence, and trigger. Mohammad Arif, Head of Information Security at Guild Group, states that AI security is a critical boardroom issue, not just a technical concern. He warns that organizations treating AI security as a future problem are already falling behind. The biggest shift is that AI is becoming part of the enterprise operating model. This means it needs to be governed and secured like any other vital capability. The risk increases when AI adoption outpaces governance. If AI tools connect to sensitive data or workflows without clear controls, it becomes a broader issue of data, privacy, and operational resilience. What worries experts most is the gap between the speed of AI adoption and the maturity of AI governance. Uncontrolled or "shadow" AI adoption can lead to risks like data confidentiality breaches, privacy issues, and intellectual property concerns. This matters because without proper governance, the very systems designed to improve efficiency could expose your organization to significant new dangers.
