India-Japan Ties: Defence, AI & Energy Security Deepen

India and Japan are elevating their strategic partnership with new agreements across defense, AI, economic, and clean energy security. This includes the first-ever co-development project in the defense sector between the two nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Japan as one of India's most trusted partners, highlighting a "new chapter" in their relationship. He welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to India for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. The leaders emphasized technology as a key pillar, issuing a Joint Statement on Artificial Intelligence. They believe the combination of Japan's precision technology and India's software capabilities will boost global AI development. This partnership aims to pave the way for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
