John Deere has launched an artificial intelligence assistant called "JD." This new AI tool is designed to help farmers unlock insights from their farm data. The program will roll out to some farmers in a staged release, starting September 1st. There is no extra cost or subscription fee to use it. JD can evaluate past performance in fields, compare yields between seed varieties, and incorporate third-party apps with permission. For example, it can use years of data to explain why a field might have more weeds than usual. This AI assistant uses a large language model to offer deep insights specific to a farm's operation. It won't pull general information like other AI models. The technology has been tested and will continue in an early access program for some U.S. agricultural operators. This innovation could help farmers make more informed decisions by leveraging their own collected data.
