LG K-EXAONE 2.0: Korea's 750B-parameter AI model unveiled

LG AI Research has released K-EXAONE 2.0, Korea's largest artificial intelligence model, to the open-source community. This new model boasts 750 billion parameters and is intended for a government project focused on domestically developed AI. Here's the thing: K-EXAONE 2.0 has more than tripled its parameter count from the previous version. It also uses the Apache 2.0 license, allowing unrestricted commercial use. What's interesting is its performance: it scored an average of 70.1 across 24 benchmark evaluations, a significant increase from the 1.0 version. Its coding benchmarks improved by 30 percent. The model also outperformed other models in global and Korean long-context comprehension benchmarks. It now supports 10 languages, which is the largest number among Korean AI foundation models. This development aims to help Korea's AI expand into the global market. The bottom line is that this signifies Korea's independent capability to compete with global frontier AI models.
