Mastercard's AI Agent Payments: Crypto Giants Join In

Mastercard has launched a new platform called Agent Pay for Machines. This service allows autonomous AI agents to make payments using cards, bank accounts, and stablecoins. What's interesting is that these AI systems can now buy services and send payments on their own. This includes very small transactions, even those worth fractions of a cent, happening in the background. More than 30 companies are participating in this effort, including Coinbase, OKX, Polygon, RippleX, Stripe, and Cloudflare. Mastercard says this platform will enable a "superbloom of AI business models" by allowing machines to buy and sell services at high volumes, low values, and with great speed. The bottom line is that this move by Mastercard expands AI-powered commerce, allowing AI agents to complete transactions without direct human involvement.
