Meta has rolled out its Meta AI assistant globally within Threads' Direct Messages. This update allows users to have private, one-on-one conversations with the chatbot inside the text-based platform. The goal is to streamline user workflows, making it easier to analyze context, summarize content, and conduct research without leaving the app. This integration is part of Meta's strategy to keep users engaged within its ecosystem, reducing reliance on third-party AI platforms. Users can share Threads posts, images, web links, and video content directly with Meta AI in a private chat. The assistant can then answer questions, summarize long threads, or provide background details on trending news. These DM sessions are strictly private. Meta will also continue limited public feed testing for Meta AI in some global markets. Users can manage public AI interactions by muting the account, using "Not interested" feedback, or hiding AI replies on their posts. This move aims to transform Threads into a comprehensive information and discovery platform.
