Meta's Muse Code: Cheaper with Data Sharing

Meta has launched Muse Code, a new terminal coding agent for macOS and Linux. This beta tool is powered by Muse Spark 1.2, Meta's latest model. Muse Code can handle complete software engineering tasks, including planning changes, writing code, and validating results. It uses multiple subagents to achieve this. This is Meta's first major move into agentic coding. What's interesting is how it's priced. The model typically costs $1.25 for 1 million input tokens and $4.25 for 1 million output tokens. However, Meta offers a significant discount if you allow them to use your data for training. With the "Contributor tier," prices drop to just $0.10 for 1 million input tokens and $0.20 for 1 million output tokens. The Contributor tier does have rate limits: 60 requests and 2.1 million tokens per minute. The more expensive "Standard tier" offers higher limits of 3,000 requests and 4 million tokens per minute. This means users can save money by contributing to Meta's AI training.
