Mexico's 2026 Tech Spending: AI & Cybersecurity Surge

Mexican companies are set to invest significantly in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity by 2026. They plan to direct US$776 million to AI software and services, and US$1,476 million to cybersecurity. This shift moves technology budgets away from hardware and towards cloud-based, automation-driven models. Cybersecurity holds the top spot on Mexico's tech agenda, cited by 37% of surveyed companies. Generative AI is now second, at 30.8%. What's interesting is that advanced generative AI use cases are often tied to IT and security, helping with threat detection and automated responses. However, a shortage of 77,000 cybersecurity specialists and low security automation could limit the effectiveness of these investments. The bottom line is that these tech investments are crucial for Mexico's business environment, but addressing talent gaps is key to fully realizing their benefits.
