Microsoft 365 Copilot: Clears AI Security Audit Again

Microsoft 365 Copilot has once again cleared an external security audit. This AI assistant, used in enterprise and school environments, received a clean audit in March 2026. What's interesting is that it was recertified with zero non-conformities and zero improvement observations. This follows its initial ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification in March 2025. This certification comes from an independent auditor. This is a major win for gaining the trust of enterprise customers. ISO 42001 certifies compliance for AI systems across governance, risk assessment, and data management. Microsoft emphasizes that this 2026 certification shows its evolving AI system meets current compliance needs. The system now features a multi-model architecture, including Anthropic Claude models, not just OpenAI's. The scope of the certification has also expanded to include Microsoft Copilot Studio. Microsoft is even using its own AI systems to improve its AI services. This helps scale automated validation processes while keeping humans involved. The company already has more than 15 million paid seats for Microsoft 365 Copilot. This recertification could further attract more enterprise clients.
