Microsoft AI Boosts MDASH to 95.95% at Half Cost

Microsoft has launched its first cybersecurity-specific AI model within its MDASH system. This new model, MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, combined with GPT-5.4, achieved a 95.95% score on CyberGym. What's interesting is that this configuration also costs 50% less than Microsoft's previous best MDASH combination. MAI-Cyber-1-Flash is designed to handle up to 90% of MDASH tasks, with GPT-5.4 reserved for the toughest 10%. This access is currently limited to approved MDASH customers through a private preview. It's important to note that the 95.95% score is for the MDASH system using both models, not for MAI-Cyber-1-Flash alone. Also, CyberGym measures known vulnerability reproduction, not blind discovery. Microsoft's public leaderboard did not show this 95.95% result when checked, still listing an earlier 88.4%. The company's model card indicates that MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, a sparse mixture-of-experts transformer, replaced 80% of MDASH's existing models to achieve this reported improvement. This matters because it shows a significant step in making cybersecurity tools more effective and potentially more affordable.
