Microsoft AI Boosts Windows Security: MDASH & Faster Fixes

Microsoft is significantly increasing its use of AI to boost Windows security. The company's multi-model agentic scanning harness, or MDASH, now uses multiple AI models, including third-party ones, to detect vulnerabilities earlier. What's interesting is that Microsoft is also using AI earlier in the Windows development process. This helps security experts find potential issues before new features or updates are released. When a vulnerability is found, AI is then used to improve the process for developing a fix. Microsoft is even investing in new technology for end-to-end generation and validation of fixes using AI. Pavan Davuluri, EVP of Windows + Devices, notes that AI-powered discovery is a double-edged sword, as it can also accelerate how quickly vulnerabilities are exploited. However, AI also helps Microsoft accelerate engineering work to fix these issues. This means customers can expect faster protection and more timely updates.
