Microsoft is transforming Copilot into a single "super app" AI. This move aims to merge the entire Copilot ecosystem, which currently includes many individual versions. Copilot is an intelligent virtual assistant developed by Microsoft, based on advanced language models like GPT-4 from OpenAI. It helps users chat, search, create text and images, and optimize work. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed this plan. Nadella explained Copilot has evolved from a chat tool to a platform for team collaboration and now to comprehensive background tasks. The goal is to combine these tools into one super app for both general users and businesses. This new application is expected to launch at the end of 2026. It will maintain Microsoft 365 security standards for office use and may come pre-installed with Windows 11 updates. Microsoft reports over 30 million paid Copilot users, who will directly experience this change. Experts say this strategy aims to compete for the "default AI interface" position, similar to moves by Anthropic and OpenAI. This matters because it could streamline how many people interact with AI for daily tasks.
