Midjourney Medical: AI Ultrasound for 3D Body Mapping

AI firm Midjourney, known for its image generator, has launched a new medical venture called Midjourney Medical. This initiative focuses on full-body ultrasound scanning. Their first hardware product is the Midjourney Scanner. It's a full-body imaging system designed to create detailed 3D views of a person's internal anatomy using ultrasound technology. The scanner uses many ultrasound imaging modules in a ring shape. Users stand on a platform that descends through water while thousands of sensors emit ultrasonic waves. The system then analyzes these waves to generate images of muscles, fat, bones, and organs, creating a 3D body map in about one minute. Midjourney plans to open a dedicated facility, the Midjourney Spa, in San Francisco's Union Square before the end of 2027. This site will include scanning rooms, a gym, saunas, and cold-water immersion pools. The company believes this technology could eventually achieve image quality comparable to MRI in some applications. Currently, Midjourney is focusing on generating "body composition maps," which have fewer regulatory requirements than diagnostic imaging systems. This development could change how we monitor our internal health and body composition.
