MIT: Agentic AI Fails Without Strong Data Foundation

A new study from MIT and Google Cloud confirms that agentic AI will fail without a solid data foundation. While 100% of respondents plan to use agentic AI within two years, only about half trust its outputs. Here's the thing: 98% of organizations already use agentic AI, though mostly for limited tasks. A select group, called "data leaders," gives AI access to over 70% of their data, compared to others who share 30% or less. These leaders also report 100% trust in their AI agents, while only about 50% of all respondents do. Their success is linked to strong data foundations. The bottom line: Many organizations face bottlenecks from legacy systems, which limit scaling and slow down AI agents. This report highlights that reliable AI fundamentally requires reliable data.
