Monash & CyberCX Launch AI Cybersecurity Degree

Monash University is partnering with Australian company CyberCX to launch a new undergraduate degree. This program aims to meet Australia's increasing need for cybersecurity professionals skilled in artificial intelligence. The three-year Bachelor of CyberAI (Industry Co-Lab) will be available to domestic students starting in Semester 1, 2027. Monash Vice-Chancellor Professor Sharon Pickering and CyberCX chief executive John Paitaridis unveiled the degree last week. Here's the thing: The program was co-designed with CyberCX. It will prepare graduates to secure AI systems and respond to complex cyber threats. Students will also gain practical experience through supervised placements with CyberCX in their second and third years. What's interesting is that CyberCX will offer eligible graduates a pathway into its CyberCX Academy, with up to 15 places available annually. The course will cover secure systems, cybersecurity operations, and AI technologies. It will also focus on designing and managing secure AI systems in real-world environments. Students will even have access to a jointly developed Secure AI Lab. The bottom line: This new degree combines academic research with industry experience to address Australia's cybersecurity workforce shortage in an AI-driven world.
