MoonPay PayBox: ChatGPT Crypto Payments & AI Transactions

MoonPay has launched PayBox, a new noncustodial payment vault. This tool allows users to prepare and execute crypto transactions or online purchases using AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude. Here's how it works: PayBox connects with these AI assistants through custom connectors and natural-language commands. Users can then describe a transaction in plain language. The AI can research options, prepare the transaction, and execute it based on user-defined permissions. What's interesting is the range of actions. Users can buy, swap, bridge, or deposit crypto. They can also complete commercial transactions such as booking flights, reserving restaurant tables, and purchasing goods from online retailers. Security is built-in with passkey approvals and user-defined spending limits. These controls determine what the connected AI assistants can execute. PayBox offers an "Always Ask" setting for individual transaction approval, or an "Autonomous" model where the AI operates within set spending limits. MoonPay supports Solana and several EVM networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and Polygon. This launch extends AI assistants beyond just research, giving them limited authority to act on a user’s behalf for various transactions.
