Moonpay's PayBox: AI Payments for Claude & ChatGPT

Moonpay has launched a new payment vault for artificial intelligence agents. This vault allows Claude and ChatGPT users to trade tokens, book travel, and move money. What's interesting is it does this without giving the AI custody of their funds. The new product, called PayBox, connects to Claude or ChatGPT. A user types a request, the AI prepares the transaction, and a human approves it with a passkey. Money only moves after this approval. Before this, moving money with an AI often meant handing the task to a third-party. Moonpay's vault removes that handoff. No single party, including Moonpay or the AI, can access a user's full private key or sign a transaction alone. Users can choose how their AI agent operates: either "Always Ask" for passkey approval on every transaction, or "Autonomous," where the AI acts within user-set limits. Changing these permissions always requires a fresh passkey approval. This innovation is crucial as billions of AI agents are expected to come online, all needing to safely handle money.
