News Corp Sues Brave, Signs Meta AI Deal Amidst Lawsuits

News Corp is suing the browser Brave, alleging it's scraping and selling copyrighted content to AI companies. What's interesting is, this comes as News Corp also signed a deal worth up to $50 million per year for Meta to use its content in AI products. Meanwhile, Microsoft has made its first news content deal in the Asia Pacific region with Australia’s Nine Entertainment. Over 30 US local newspapers, representing 400 titles, have also sued OpenAI and Microsoft for unauthorized content use in ChatGPT and Copilot. CNN is the latest to sue Perplexity for alleged content theft. On the other hand, Brazilian newspaper Folha settled its lawsuit with OpenAI by signing an agreement. And Mirror and Express publisher Reach signed a usage-based deal for its content with Amazon's Nova AI model. This highlights the ongoing tension and evolving landscape between news publishers and AI companies.
