NVIDIA Alpamayo 2 Super: Accelerating Robotaxi AI

NVIDIA has launched a new open artificial intelligence model called Alpamayo 2 Super. This model is designed to accelerate the development of Level 4 autonomous vehicles, like robotaxis. Here's the thing: Alpamayo 2 Super was revealed at NVIDIA GTC Taipei. It's part of a bigger plan to expand NVIDIA's autonomous vehicle technology platform. This new model is a 32-billion-parameter vision-language-action model. It combines perception, reasoning, and decision-making all in one system. What's interesting is that the model aims to reduce the need for vehicle manufacturers to build autonomous driving infrastructure from scratch. It also offers reasoning traces to help engineers understand how decisions are made. NVIDIA's CEO stated that Alpamayo helps cars safely reason, not just drive. The new model significantly expands on previous versions, increasing from 10 billion to 32 billion parameters. This improves its ability to understand 3D environments and predict vehicle trajectories. It also introduces full-surround perception, processing information from front, side, and rear sensors. Plus, "Meta-Actions" allow it to predict high-level driving decisions. The bottom line: Alpamayo 2 Super will be released as an open model, with inference code on GitHub and model weights on Hugging Face this summer.
