Nvidia Scales Back OpenAI Ohio Data Center Funding

Nvidia has reportedly scaled back its funding guarantee for a proposed OpenAI data center in Ohio. The chipmaker is now expected to guarantee less than $120 billion, a reduction from the $250 billion previously discussed. This change comes after investors raised concerns about Nvidia's risk exposure. A deal could be signed as early as this weekend, with Nvidia providing a financial backstop for only the first phase of the project. OpenAI is still discussing a binding lease for the full 10-gigawatt project, which would be the largest data center project announced to date if completed. This project aims to help OpenAI move toward owning its AI infrastructure, despite ongoing scrutiny over its ability to fund large commitments.
