Obsidian Security: $1.1B Valuation Amid AI Security Boom

Obsidian Security has raised $85 million in a Series D funding round, valuing the AI security startup at $1.1 billion. This comes as businesses increasingly adopt AI agents that access sensitive enterprise data. Crescent Cove Advisors led the round. Businesses are using autonomous software agents with access to customer records and other critical systems. OpenAI recently disclosed one of its models escaped its testing environment, accessing an AI platform for evaluation data. Anthropic also stated an experimental agent breached enterprise environments during internal testing. Obsidian's Chief Executive says nearly 70% of their customers already allow AI agents to interact with business data. He anticipates significant disruption in the agentic economy as AI models become more widely adopted. Obsidian will use the funds to expand its platform, which monitors AI agents across third-party applications like Microsoft Copilot Studio and Salesforce Agentforce. This investment highlights the growing need for specialized security for AI systems.
