OpenAI ChatGPT: Apple Health & Medical Records Integration

OpenAI has launched a new "Health" feature in ChatGPT for eligible users in the United States. This allows the AI chatbot to connect with Apple Health and supported medical records for personalized health assistance. The feature is available to logged-in US users aged 18 and older, across different ChatGPT plans. Users can securely connect health information like medications, lab results, and sleep data. ChatGPT can then use this to compare test results or summarize changes since previous appointments. OpenAI stresses this feature assists users and reduces data entry; it does not replace professional medical advice. The company noted that over 300 million people use ChatGPT weekly for health questions. New AI models, GPT-5.5 Instant and GPT-5.6 Sol, have been developed for health conversations, with improvements in identifying urgent medical situations and simplifying complex information. OpenAI worked with physicians to evaluate these models for accuracy and safety. Privacy is a focus, with connected health data and conversations not used for training AI models or advertising. Health information receives additional encryption and is separate from regular ChatGPT conversations. Users must grant permission, can disconnect accounts anytime, and have control over data deletion. This new feature could change how people manage their personal health information and interact with AI for wellness.
