OpenAI ChatGPT: New Personal Finance Tools & Bank Links

OpenAI has launched a preview of a new personal finance tool for U.S. ChatGPT Pro subscribers. Users can now link bank and brokerage accounts to ask questions about spending and financial planning. This feature is available on ChatGPT for the web and iOS. OpenAI partners with Plaid to support account linking, allowing connections to over 12,000 financial institutions like Schwab, Fidelity, and Chase. Once linked, users can view their portfolio performance, spending, subscriptions, and scheduled payments on a dashboard. To start, users can click "Get started" in the Finances section or type "@Finances, connect my accounts" in the chat window. OpenAI plans to add support for Intuit soon, which will enable analyses like the tax impact of stock sales. This new tool comes a month after OpenAI acquired the team from personal finance startup Hilo. OpenAI notes that more than 200 million people already ask ChatGPT finance-related questions monthly. Users can disconnect accounts and delete synced data within 30 days. OpenAI will improve the product based on feedback before expanding it to Plus subscribers. This could change how many people manage their personal finances.
