OpenAI Daybreak: AI Finds & Fixes Security Flaws

OpenAI has launched Daybreak, a new cyber defense suite that uses AI to find and fix software vulnerabilities. These tools are not available to everyone yet; OpenAI is working with industry and government partners. Here's the thing: Daybreak combines the intelligence of OpenAI models, specifically the new GPT-5.5, with the extensibility of Codex, OpenAI's coding tool. Partners can use Daybreak for secure code review, threat modeling, and patch validation, among other things. Three models are currently offered. The default GPT-5.5 is for general use. GPT-5.5 with Trusted Access For Cyber handles most defensive security workflows, including malware analysis. Finally, GPT-5.5-Cyber is available for authorized red teaming and penetration testing. Several companies, including Cloudflare, Cisco, Oracle, and Akamai, are listed as partners. This development highlights the growing role of AI in cybersecurity.
