OpenAI Exodus: 12 Execs Depart in 2026

OpenAI has seen a string of senior leaders depart in 2026. This includes former operating chief Brad Lightcap, applications CEO Fidji Simo, and chief revenue officer Denise Dresser. Denise Dresser, who started in December 2025, is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Dali Rajic will take over her role. Brad Lightcap, with OpenAI since 2018, announced his departure on X in August to "start something new." He previously served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Fidji Simo stepped down in July from her CEO of applications role to become a part-time advisor, citing health reasons related to postural tachycardia syndrome. Kevin Weil also announced his departure in April, having served as chief product officer and later vice president for OpenAI for Science. These departures indicate significant leadership changes at the company.
