OpenAI GPT-6 Astra: Smarter, Faster, More Secure AI

OpenAI has unveiled GPT-6 Astra, calling it its most intelligent and aligned model yet. This new model is initially rolling out to a limited number of organizations. Over the coming days, access will expand to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, as well as the OpenAI API, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services Bedrock. Astra targets professional work across many areas, including browsers, email, documents, and software. It shows significant improvements, completing tasks on OSWorld 2.0 in about 40 minutes, compared to 75 minutes for GPT-5.6 Sol. Astra is also positioned as OpenAI's strongest software engineering model. A key aspect of this release is cybersecurity. Astra reached OpenAI’s Critical capability threshold and scored 100% on ExploitBench without production safeguards. It even found and used two previously unknown zero-day vulnerabilities during evaluation. The launch model will refuse advanced requests like creating proof-of-concept exploits. The API model, gpt-6-astra, is priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. This launch represents a broad step forward across knowledge work, coding, science, computer use, and security.
