OpenAI GPT-Live: New Voice Models Power ChatGPT

OpenAI has launched GPT-Live, a new series of artificial intelligence models designed to process spoken instructions. This new model series will power ChatGPT’s voice mode and will also be available to developers. Here's the thing: GPT-Live includes two models at launch. GPT-Live-1 is the more capable option for paid ChatGPT plans, while GPT-Live-1-mini will serve the free tier. These models are rolling out across iOS, Android, and web versions of ChatGPT, supporting multiple languages. What's interesting is that GPT-Live addresses limitations of previous voice modes. It features a "full-duplex architecture" that allows it to interrupt users, search the web, or perform other tasks without waiting for a request to finish. This improves prompt processing speed. OpenAI says GPT-Live-1 scored 75.5 in pleasantness evaluations, outperforming the previous voice processing model. For complex prompts, GPT-Live routes to GPT-5.5, OpenAI’s most advanced commercially available model.
