OpenAI Health ChatGPT Relaunch: US Healthcare Access Transformed

OpenAI has launched Health in ChatGPT for all U.S. users aged 18 and older. This feature was first piloted in January but has now been rebuilt. More than 300 million people already use ChatGPT weekly for health questions. The new Health feature is available on all plan tiers, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, on web and iOS in the United States. Users can now access health features directly within any conversation. You can connect Apple Health, supported medical records apps, and other wellness platforms. This allows the system to compare lab results, summarize changes since appointments, or analyze patterns in sleep and activity data. OpenAI states that connected health data will not be used for model training or advertising. However, there's a difference in quality: free users get guidance from GPT-5.5 Instant, while paying subscribers access GPT-5.6 Sol. On OpenAI's HealthBench Professional benchmark, GPT-5.6 Sol scores 88.0% on completeness, compared to 53.2% for GPT-5.5 Instant. Both models outperform physician-written answers on this benchmark. This rollout highlights AI's growing role in personal healthcare, bringing both new possibilities and important trade-offs.
