OpenAI Phone Leak: 2nm MediaTek, LPDDR6, 2027 Launch

OpenAI is reportedly accelerating its push into the smartphone market, with a launch expected in the first half of 2027. This device aims to be defined by AI agents rather than traditional apps. The phone could feature a custom 2-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 9600 SoC, LPDDR6 memory, and UFS 5.0 storage. It's also expected to have a dual-NPU design for AI tasks and an upgraded HDR image signal processor to enhance visual perception for the AI agent. The project also plans to use pKVM to protect sensitive user data. OpenAI is targeting 30 million units between 2027 and 2028, aiming to challenge the iPhone 18 Pro. This move could signal a big shift in mobile AI computing.
