OpenAI Sol, Terra, Luna AI Models: Limited Rollout

OpenAI has unveiled three new artificial intelligence models: Sol, Terra, and Luna. However, these models are not immediately available worldwide. Instead, they are in a limited preview with a small group of trusted partners. This follows a request from the US government for an early safety review. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced these models, describing them as a major step forward in AI capabilities and pricing. Sol is described as OpenAI's most capable model yet, priced similarly to GPT-5.5, with improved performance in coding, biology, and cybersecurity. Terra, part of the GPT-5.6 family, offers performance comparable to GPT-5.5 at about half the cost. Luna also joins the GPT-5.6 lineup. OpenAI expects these models to become available to more users in the coming weeks. This limited rollout shows how new AI technology is being carefully introduced to the world.
