OpenAI's Brad Lightcap Departs for New Venture

Senior OpenAI executive Brad Lightcap is leaving the company to start a new venture. He announced this on Tuesday. What's interesting is Lightcap moved from Chief Operating Officer in April to a role leading special projects. He said he's been focused on "the next horizon" and believes new things are needed as we enter this next period. He joined OpenAI in 2018 and previously worked with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. This follows another executive change. Fidji Simo, OpenAI's CEO of AGI deployment, said in July she would move to a part-time advisory role due to a medical leave.
